We have come a long way since 2004. When I opened our doors early that year I had a home computer, seventy-six thousand dollars in start up capital and not a hint of infrastructure or name recognition.
I harbored no delusions of grandeur. I tacitly and explicitly recognized that we would endure our share of challenges, disappointments and difficulties. They are part and parcel of starting a company out of nothing.
What I also had, and have still to this very day, was a vision for what would be; that we would become a great company. I have never wavered in that belief.
A great company is built, brick by brick, step by step, over a period of time. It is founded on the combination of sacrifice, parent-like dedication, and an enormous amount of hard work. It is furthered by making more good decisions than bad and by learning the lessons imparted by a bad decision made. Above all, a great company becomes so because it attracts, nurtures and rewards outstanding people who maintain an unfailing, unwavering commitment to seeing their company become just that.
We are on that course. From very humble beginnings we have grown into one of the largest and most formidable wholesalers in the northeastern United States. We have built one of the most advanced IT platforms in our industry, capable of supporting a national organization. With the formal opening of our Chicago office, we have taken our first major step towards becoming a national organization. Throughout it all we have grown, year in and year out, despite one of the worst economic climates in the history of our nation and the softest insurance market in recent memory.
We will stay the course and we will continue to make great strides, no matter the varied challenges we face. We will neither lose our belief in the promise of our future nor lose sight of our original vision.
